Rural Arts is a registered charity that delivers inspiring and inclusive creative opportunities that enrich lives and connect communities. We run The Courthouse, which is open Tuesday - Saturday, 10am - 4pm, where we provide over 400 events and activities each year alongside an award-winning café, an artisan shop and rooms to hire. We programme 70 professional performances per year in rural venues and lead a range of wellbeing and employment programmes to support vulnerable people. Rural Arts was founded in 1993 and is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation.
Thirsk Hall Sculpture Garden (open all year round from 14th May 2022) welcomes visitors each week on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, from 11AM - 5PM. Walk through his fully-restored 1940s home and surgery in Thirsk; travel back in time to what life was like when James was practicing. See the car he drove, step into the TV set, try your hand at being a vet, plus so much more including interactive games for Herriot fans of all ages. A visit to the World of James Herriot is something you will never forget.
Established in 1988, the Gallery has earned a reputation for the range and quality of the work on show, especially Original Prints: etchings, engravings, screenprints and lithographs. Zillah Bell Gallery acts solely on behalf of our artists. We are not art dealers so our prices are the same as buying direct from the artist. This also permits us to exhibit work by many of today's leading artists.
