Thirsk is a traditional market town with a central cobbled square and town clock. It is famous for being the hometown of renowned vet and author James Herriot, and has a long-established market each Monday and Saturday. 

The town is perfectly nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors - and it is filled with incredible, independent shops, places to eat and businesses. Furthermore, there are always incredible events and exhibitions for you to enjoy. 

Easily reached by train (just over two hours from London and Edinburgh), and just minutes off the A1, Thirsk offers the perfect base from which to explore North Yorkshire. Just a short drive from the North Yorkshire Moors, the Yorkshire Dales, the coast and towns including Harrogate, Ripon and York.
